My buddy has a Bach TR300 b89XXX which as far as I can tell means it was made in the early 70's. Any idea what its worth?? Its silver looks ok

It's silver? Are you sure it's not a TR200? I'm not exactly an expert but it seems like most of the TR300's are laquer and most of the TR200's are silver.

Ya its silver I had it in my hands this morning. Sounded ok but... well I wasn't overly impressed it worked though seemed to be in tune. I don't want it but someone offered him $500 for it and he thought that was low maybe not the fact its older doesn't up the price and they're selling em new for about $500.

It's not from the 70's. The TR300's have their own serial numbers. I can look up when the B's were in production, if you'd like. I think late 1980's. It's not worth $500 either and it's a student line instrument.

My friend would be intetrested I'm sure he'll be kickin himself for not getting rid of it when he could have. Though he did say his son might want to play I'm sure you could find a worse trumpet to start with, they do have em at Wal Mart right. Any way an actual date would be cool thanx

Hi Rob

I was a little off. Your friends horn was made in 1996. I had to take a double take because I thought that number was much earlier. We have purchased numerous TR300's at the school system I work at and I looked up the info on our inventory cards.

Check out this ebay listing to get an idea of what the silver bach 300 is worth.
This one is refurbished with new silver plate from a dealer with great feedback.
The "buy it now" is 375.00 plus 20.00 for shipping.
The local dealer where I live was ripping off parents of 6th graders last year with the laquer 300 bach's for 1200 dollars.
One student's mother bought one and when she went in 2 years later to trade it for a silver intermediate horn, they offered her a 400.00 trade against a horn that was overpriced by 700 dollars.
It really pays to shop around and try out the horns before buying.
I don't think wal-mart is selling horns anymore. At least at the store where I shop, they quit selling them.

Here's another 300 with a new custom silver and gold finish that has been rebuilt from an ebay dealer with great feedback.
485.00 with shipping included.

Here is a brand new Bach 300 Silver trumpet for 569.00 (Brand New) plus 31.00 for shipping and insurance.
