I have never dealt this Tulsa band, but I have bought new instruments from Woodwind and Brasswind, Giardinelli and Rayburn Music - all with great success. I can also recommend Pro Winds in Bloomington, IN even though I have to date only bought mouthpieces from them.
Now that you know what you want, go ahead and see if any of the above have any in stock. You shouldn't overpay, but all of them offer fair prices in my opinion. Nonetheless, whenever you get it, you will love it!

Call Roger Keiper at Washington Music Center ("Chuck Levins Washington Music Center") as he usually has more Schilkes in stock and will beat anyones price. They have a web site althought I am not sure of the address. I'd also check with Brasswind and Woodwind outta Indiana.
I now own a Schilke B-1 and I have played on an X-3 and an S-42. My X-3 was stolen from me. The S-42 was way too small and too tight. |

What Rusty said - I haven't seen anyone beat Roger Keiper's prices at Washington Music Center.
Their website is http://www.wmcworld.com - Roger is sometimes hard to get a hold of but you'll be glad you did. |

Congratulations, Trumpet Mom, on picking out the right horn for "you." I think that you will be very happy with it, as I am with my (used) Schilke B3L. I had tried it and other very good professional horns on several different days and always came back to that Schilke because I loved playing it every time and continue to love playing it. It is the horn for me.

I have dealt with Tulsa Band. Specifically with a guy named John Duda. He now owns and operates Callichio. They are great folks to work with... straight up square shooters. Don't be afraid of them or concerned about them at all. |

Both places are great. Tulsa has been getting very competitive on prices as of late. They had the lowest price on Kanstul Bergeron Model & 1500 Model horns.
The B1 is an excellent choice. It is the most popular Schilke and was Mr. Schilke's favorite.
Enjoy!

No, I didn't take any pictures of the factory. I got a great tour though, from station to station, and got to see the employees building a trumpet from the valves to the bells, to the finished product before it goes out for plating. I was amazed at the amount of work, and care, that goes into making a Schilke trumpet. I was impressed.
Tulsa is VERY competitive on their pricing. I had to ask three times to make sure I was being quoted on a new horn, not a used one. I checked with a couple other places and no one even came close. I hope I don't have to wait too long for the trumpet, but it will be worth the wait. |

Try Stu's Music Store in Maryland... http://www.stusmusic.com/ ...ask for Larry. I talked with him about 2 weeks ago and I think they might even have a B1 in stock.

One nice thing about Schilkes is that they are consistently good. So if any of the mentioned stores have one in stock, you can take it to the bank it will be almost exactly like the one you played in the factory. _________________ Best Regards, Play Well!! |
