I remember a web page dedicated to Olds trumpets and cornets. Can't find it - can someone let me know what it is? Need to date a couple of Olds horns. |

Thanks for the web page. That was the one I recall. Problem now is to date the cornet - serial is 61187, so must be an early one. Will keep checking. |

That horn would be from 1951, an excellent vintage of Olds instruments.
My Ambassador trumpet is from 1950. Dynamite horn to begin with, and especially now that it has the Bach 43 leadpipe. If a bunch of TH people hadn't talked about such conversions I would have never tried it myself. Less than $350 for a great-playing horn!

Thanks for the date info Rich. Think this cornet will turn out just great when re-finished. Plays better than I thought it would. Never know what lurks in pawn shops!
