Any news from the Houston audition?
I live in Houston but haven't heard anything yet.

Yeah, I talked to a few of the symphony guys and they were pretty dipleased at the fact that they held the auditions the same day as the MET auditions. Houston or the MET????? We'll see how it turns out, I'd kind of like to see Charlie Butler get it though, hearing him in the past, he'd be great for the job!

Any trumpet players in Houston intrested in playing some Trumpet Ensemble Music.
Both Legit and Jazz (with rhythm section).?
Fuzzyjon and I are trying to put something together.

Yea, we definitely need to get a Houston trumpet group going. I've been aching to play some ensemble music. I'd like to try the Ewazen Fantasia for 7 trumpets if we can get that many together.

That would be the current principal Jon DeWitt, I went Sunday afternoon and thought he did a bang up job. There were some rough spots, but I thought it was still great, afterall, I'm not there to count how many notes he cracked, but to hear some good trumpet playing, and that's exactly what I did, listened to some VERY good trumpet playing.

OK, so here's the scoop, nobody was accepted as principal but Jim Vassalo was the "Last man standing." We'll see how things work out with a better audition date next time.
