vintage martin committee cornet

i recently got this martin committee cornet from my relative as a gift, i dont know anything about it. It says martin committee model elkhart-ind u.s.a on the bell. the serial number is 139002. its in great shape with peeled off lacquer. can anyone tell me anything about this cornet? is it good? or how much it is worth, something like that. im just a beginner, so i need some help.

I believe you have a 1940 Martin cornet. I played a 1931 Martin cornet for about a year or so before I replaced it with a 1949 Martin Committee cornet. I sold the 1931 cornet for about $250 and bought the 49 cornet for about $500. Both cornets had great sound and decent intonation. The committee is quite a bit heavier, but easier to blow. I really have been happy with the vintage Martin cornets and think you probably have a good one.
