Guess is depends on your definition of "Excellent."

"Excellent" = "no major damage" + missing spit valve??? I always thought "excellent" meant a little more than that!

Somebody here recently posted some photos of an Ambassador they had gotten overhauled. One of the things they did was to put new waterkeys on it. With a new finish and different waterkeys, it looked like a completely different horn. While this example is definitely not "excellent," if you were able to get into it at a low price, this might be a great candidate for something like that. Putting on new waterkeys was not a really costly repair the last time I had it done.

No, this probably wouldn't take all that much to make it presentable. I was tempted myself until I noticed the droop of the bell. However, it's going a little far to call it "Excellent."

E-Bay is full of dirty liars...you want things in mint condition when you get them not broken.

No. That is not an excellent example of an Ambassador. It would appear to have several non-olds parts such as the 2nd bottom cap, and the main tuning slide (not a minor problem). It also appears to be entirely cancerous with red rot. This non-excellent horn wouldn't even make a pleasant looking lamp.

Excellent,

Far from it.

I think the proper way to list a item and be fair about it would be to say.

"The horn overall is in good shape. No dents or dings but has a missing water key.The finish on this horn shows wear and is in the condition expected of a horn that is almost 40+ years old."

I try and be as accurate in my EBAY ads as possible.I have never had any negative feedback on any of the items I have ever sold.

If everyone would just live by those rules there would never be a problem on ebay.

Not only is the bell droop noticeable, the picture of the bell end of the horn appears that a crease was only partially smoothed out, if at all. But the horn is actually 50+ years old.

Maybe he meant the case is excellent.

Here...Re-read the ad as .... Vintage Olds Ambassador Trumpet w/case *Excellent*

Now put the emphasis to mean the case is excellent.

If you read it any other way...it's an old ugly duckling with a bell that needs Viagra!!!

On the brighter side...I guess you could give it a buff and polish, replace some parts, and then sell it for a small profit.
