Getzen Valves - oil and nickel plate

I'm curious. What type of oil and care do users of horns with Getzen valves (Getzens, recent Lawlers, etc) recommend?

How would you describe and characterize the valves? Many here talk about the excellence of Getzen valves. Right now I'm playing a new/used Lawler TL6R-1A and would like to hear from folks who know the horn - and the valves.

in MY experience Getzen horns have always had the fastest valves and they seem to last a long time. They have a feather lite touch and just seem so much more effortless than most other valves.
I have heard about a GETZEN lifetime warrantee on their valves but am awaiting to hear details on them concerning used horns. You can buy a BRAND NEW set of valves from Getzen for 200 bucks plus shipping.

I use Zaja Blue on my valves. Seems to work great. Also, I occasionally break the horn down and wash it out with warm water including the valve casings. Wipe off the valves and run a soft cloth inside the casing and it's ready to be oiled and go again.

I use Lawler valve oil on my new Lawler TL5. On my year old TL6 I've always used Hetman #1. On all my other horns I use one of those. If the horn is going to be in a closet for very long, I will put the Hetman on the valves because I think it lasts longer. However, I have no scientific proof of this. Once a week I wash the valves of the horns I'm using with regularity with mild dish soap and water.

The lifetime transferrable warranty on Getzen valves starts with instruments made from 1991 on. This is when the Getzen family purchased the Getzen Co. back.

I always used Al Cass with my Getzen Eterna trumpet, circa 1976, and had excellent results. I now use Al Cass with a Getzen Eterna Flugelhorn and it works great for that too. I think with Getzens, most valve oils work well.
