I don't have a definitive answer for you, but I have seen several Conn 22B's (the older pro model) with a fsncy "US" engraved on the bell sold on Ebay. These horns all had serial numbers from the '50's. That one was the first military Reynolds I've seen but I have seen a couple of Olds' horns. |

Hi,
Foster Reynolds landed huge contracts from the military for brass instruments during WWII. His company, at the time, wasn't very old but his reputation and his instruments won over the military purchasers. I suspect that several of his instruments rest at the bottom on the USS Arizona today. |

That only went for $85? The collectability alone would've raised its price, or so I would've though. |

As an ex Army musician I can tell you that the military always goes for the top of the line instruments. The instrruments purchased will be professional and a brand the current musicians believe are best for what they will be playing. _________________ Gill |

All of the major instrument makers sold to the military (we still do at S.E. Shires) going back to the 1800's. The Olds "Military" model was just that, a model, and for a time in the 30's was the top of the Olds line. Models by all makers were pro instruments usually in silver plate and most had the branch of the service engraved on the bell.
