I own a Getzen 994 eterna Bb Bass trumpet. It has a very unique sound not unlike a valve trombone but much smoother and sweeter. I'm not that good on it, but it's fun to play. A friend of mine who has great trombone chops and doubles on trumpet can really work some magic with it. You should see some of the looks I get when I pull that giant trumpet out of the case! I'm thinking about selling it since I don't have much time yo play it. It's a pretty cool horn to play in a jazz setting...Kevin

I have had a Bach Strad Bass trumpet for a year now. Quite a challenge to switch to a 'bone mouthpiece, but I can get some pretty good sounds out of it. Cetrtainly has a great effect at rehearsals when you haul a big horn like that outta the case.

I also have a valve 'bone and am still deciding which I prefer, the bass trupmet has a much softer darker tone for me.

Grab one off ebay and try if you can

Eclipse XLR Scratch Gold
Wild Thing SP
Kanstul 1525 Flugel
....and many more!!!
