This idea was taken off of the dream trumpet section topic.

What would be the dream big band?

This includes these instruments

SAXES
1st Alto Sax
2nd Alto Sax
1st Tenor Sax
2nd Tenor Sax
Baritone Sax

TROMBONES
1st Trombone
2nd Trombone
3rd Trombone
4th Trombone

TRUMPETS
1st Trumpet
2nd Trumpet
3rd Trumpet
4th Trumpet

RHYTHM SECTION
Piano
Guitar
Bass
Drums

I figured that this is a pretty basic set-up for a big band. You can of course add more instruments/players as you feel neccisary.

GMac, why don't you let us know what you think?

Anyways, here's my sloppy attempt at a no-chemistry dream big band:

Frontman: Working Kirk (a true entertainer )

1st alto: Matt Wallace
2nd alto: Johnny Hodges
1st tenor: Lenny Pickett
2nd tenor: Steve Marcus
Bari: Chip McNeil

1st tbn: Dave Steinmeyer
2nd tbn: Tom Garling
3rd tbn: Mic Gillette
4th tbn: Nick Lane

1st tpt: Walter White
2nd tpt: Snooky Young
3rd tpt: George Graham
4th tpt: Wayne Bergeron
5th / scream: Scott Englebright

Piano: Dave Matthews (replaces Harry Konnick Jr., he works better in this group)
Guitar: Russell Malone
Bass: Frances Rocco Prestia
Drums: Dave Weckyl

dang, how many TOP players do I really need?

Yo FlugelFlyer,

If Doc Kupka ever retires or can no longer get up off the floor on "You're still a young man", you ought to move Matt Wallace over to bari. I don't know how much bari he's played in the last 20 years, but when he was 16 or 17, he played the snot out of it in our big band (Resurrected Swing) in Omaha, Nebraska. You just knew he had something special.

Congrats on your instrument certification!

Dave
