Since it's October already, are we able to still get the August edition? Since you were writing in the present tense, I was just a bit confused - nothing new

They're available at most book stores and I've seen them at Tower Records. |

I received this issue last week and took it with me on a family vacation to read.
There is an incredible amount of great material in this issue. It took me a week to really read the articles as you can take a great deal of applicable lessons from it.
They also provide you some great patterns exercises to workout on your horn. This is a great magazine as it also comes with a CD and the interviews are done from a musicians point of view. Great Investment!

Just got my copy yesterday and will start it as soon as I'm done with The Great Gatsby.
I've met the man behind the mag - Eric Nemeyer - he's a great guy and is doing a lot for jazz and improvised music by putting out such an information packed book four times a year.
Cheers,

Just picked up my copy. Good stuff. Are there any magazines dedicated to trumpet paying? Sometimes Windplayer does features on trumpeters, but there is a magazine call Saxplayer, or something like that. How about Trumpetplayer? Is it out there? |

I was very happy to read in the Orbert Davis interview in this fine issue that he takes melodic motifs and plays them in all 12 keys more than 100 times each - I have been doing a similar thing in my practice which I got from Jimmy Owens. Nice to be on the right track - at least once in a while.
Cheers,
Jason

Got my issue today and it's going to keep me busy for a good while with all of the great reading. I particularly enjoyed the Brian Lynch interview. I am getting to the Bobby Shew article tomorrow.....
Thanks for bringing this up... I wouldn't have known about it otherwise. |

I just got my copy Saturday -- definitely a must-have. Besides the interviews, which are uniformly interesting, there's a great Kenny Dorham transcription on "Lady Bird", plus a lead sheet on Bobby Shew's ballad "Blue" (and lots of other transcriptions/analysis/exercise stuff, as usual).
Nice interview, Flip! |

Are there any music stores in Toronto, Canada that carry the magazine?
I'm just curious, I've already placed an order last week. Looking forward to get my copy in the mail. _________________ "She who lives with the shortest to do list wins." Barbara Sher |

Thank you,
For steering me to this fantastic magazine. I second most of what has been said here already. I just started working with a new teacher, to address the millions of questions I have about improv. Soo... I thought, even though I do not have an extra $14 bucks, I'll go for it.
I was really excited to see all the transcriptions and exercises. Then I realized, many of the exercises are over the changes of the same tune, Ladybird! The analysis, the articles, the enclosed CD!!!
What a great value for $14.00!!!
