Hey guys,
I'm just now starting to include the use of the b9 and #9 as well as #5 or what have you in my soloing. Especially over dominant chords, however I am new to it and dont really know much about it.
Is there a site online (preferably free) that has ear training for jazz...to get you to hear these alterted tones against chords, or even nonaltered tones, I'll take whatever you've got.
Thanks. |

Check out the site http://www.changes98.com/New/Changes.pdf. Here You'll find almost everything there is to find about chords, scales and changes!

I wrote an ear training applet ear training applet that helps with intervals and basic chords. While it doesn't have altered chords, you could use the new "Play By Ear - Random Melodies" feature to create random sequences of any note combinations.
I've been using the random melody feature several times a week for a month or so and I'm pleasantly surprised at how much easier it is to pick out licks note-for-note from recordings. Likewise, I'm able to play my own ideas with greater accuracy. _________________ www.iwasdoingallright.com - jazz trumpet blog and ear training tools |
