I am looking into getting a new trumpet case I just have a few questions before I buy one.
Does any one know the dimentions of a torpedo bag.
All I need are the diameter and the length of the outside of the bag.
Does any one have pictures of the inside of a wolfpak single case or the torpedo bag.
Thanks in advance |

Just measured mine.... (torpedo bag )
about 9x25 inches
They're kind of heavy and not super comfortable to carry but they're the only single gig bag type case that I'd consider checking in-flight. I haven't really punished mine but I'd believe that they can take almost anything.
Cheers,
Tim |

Ditto, I checked mine coming back from Italy in November. Great single case! |

To answer the original question... the torpedo bag measures 24" long and 8-3/4" diameter without the attached mute bag.
Hmmm, that's a little different from what you got, Tim. Must be "manufacturing variance". I'd go with the larger dimension since I know that it is da*ned tight fit on a bus "overhead".
Still too long to fit the N.A. airline "carryon" of 22" long though. |

I know it's not answering your question (which has already been answered!) but I was thinking of getting one as they are so highly rated, so a friend showed me his and it made up my mind as it was so uncomfortable to carry, and I didn't like the way it went in and out of the case at the end - I was worried about a schilke;s light bell being dmaged as I pulled it in and out.
I went for a Protec extreme case in the end which does not offer the same level of protection, but is a hard case, and I fly to the Uk and Canada fairly regularly and it has served me very well storing it in the over head lockers.

Torpedo's offer (IMHO) some of the best protection when it comes to a single horn case.
I find it easy to carry by only using one backpack strap. Connect it cross-wise and just sling it over your shoulder with the horn on your back side. It feels more comfortable that way for me.
Also, I use a Torpedo as my personal case of choice. I also play a Kanstul WB model, which is very lightweight. I have yet to have any problems with pulling it and out and causing any damage to the bell at all. I can't speak for Schilke's, but like I said, it works on my Kanstul WB just fine.
Good Luck! _________________ Lon A. Heim

I have (and continue to) use my Torpedo Bag for both my B1 Schilke or my Eclipse when I'm only taking one trumpet (and the rest of the time "one or t'other" is stored in the Torpedo). It works very well with both. I think if I had a beryllium tuning bell Schilke or one of the "super-soft" Monettes I might be concerned and would probably use something different (Walt Johnson or Wiseman). |

FWIW, I had no problem carrying my horn in a Torpedo Bag as carry-on baggage when I flew to New Orleans a few months ago. However, in the case of a smaller jet carrier the Torpedo Bag could present a problem in getting the bag to fit in the smaller overhead containers. You could always check the horn with luggage and the bag would certainly be strong enough to protect the horn. But I just don't like letting go of my horn that way and would prefer to carry it on the plane with me. So, you might need a second option sometimes.

There's one in the marketplace now which includes both music pouch and mute bag; Though not sure if he sold it already. Torpedo Ad
Did a google search and Tulsa Band Instruments seems to be cheapest if you want the accessories otherwise Dillon has the same price. _________________ Cyaround, Jason |

That's a pretty fair price for one that's only been used once. I've had mine for about two years now and it still shows NO damage, wear, etc. Looks like new.
Lots of dealers for those things... you just have to do some price comparisons and pick the one that's best for you. Take a look "up" the forum... PC King sells them. |
