I just saw this in the Comments forum, so I thought I would make the poll. |

Which one should we vote for?
Will you delete one so the info will not get distorted? _________________

Did you vote the same way in both? _________________ Philip Satterthwaite

We started a chat session last year, mostly using IM and relying on a moderator (usually my, fsyobugle, or UnixWulf) to invite people who were active in a rather large buddy list. This was pretty happening for a few months, but as time wore on, it waned. I think the 3 of us kinda burned out on being the "leader".
From my limited experience with chat forums, I find if they meet at a regular time(s) each week, than I am more likely to participate. We were doing this Saturday evenings around 11pm, which catches a lot of US folk, but really shuts out our colleagues who are not in the western hemi.
If something gets happening, I will try to stop by and chew the trumpet fat. Let me know what you get going. _________________ - Paul Artola

Yeah, I agree. I would be much more inclined to use chat if there was a set time for it.

11 is too late for me :\
I think whatever happens will happen. People don't always get on at the set time. I would really like a chatroom right here at TH, with the same usernames, passwords, etc..

The big problem with the "set time" meetings is that TH is an international website. Much as the majority of THers are probably based in the US, there are those of us from foreign parts who would also join in with a chatroom, if it were there.
If it was a set time, it would be in the middle of the night for someone, somewhere - that's the joy of going international.
If there was just a chatroom that was open for us to say "hi" in, to whoever was online at the time, that might be more internationally user-friendly.
Just thinking - 11pm for you guys is about 5/6am for us over here (if my maths is close) - NO CHANCE! |

I agree with Bonnie if a chat should be started thats the best way. _________________ Cheers,

I demand that we have a recount.
