I like to take lessons with many teachers, just to see what they have to offer and what I can learn from them and if I'm not playing in groups with these guys it helps me create a friendship with them, which sometimes leads to more jobs.
Anyways, I had a lesson with this guy a while ago and he was stressing buzzing exercises without the mouthpiece just the lips (He could buzz with just his lips up to a triple c ... I about fell on the floor!), I had never tried this so I gave it a try for a while and it finally helped me go over the Double C register ... which before I had a very powerful double C all the time, but above that ... nothing.
Anyone else had success with these types of exercises?

Hey somewhere in the midwest!(haha)
I free buzzed(to about a high C) for several months and can't say it helped.
I now buzz with my mpc and (thanks to the advice of a TH moderator) now buzz with my tuning slide out before practicing. I really like that for a few reasons(I'll spare you to avoid going off topic) |
