Ok. I opened the access to anyone with an account now. Just create an accounts by on my site and click the authentication link in your email and when you are logged in you will see the first of many audio files listed at the top on the home page. More lectures will be uploaded soon along with some cool features associated with the sound files. Enjoy and please spread the word about my site. _________________ Jeff Purtle

Awesome, managed to get it to work. Great recording! It was nice to hear Claude talking. I also enjoyed hearing Bob O'Donnel taking his range study up to a blistering double c, and then to the double D, and also, doing Clarke V etude single tongued in one breath. |

There's something about listening to Claude that always makes me want to practice furiously all day. And I absolutely would if I didn't live in a darn apartment or work. I have to make do on my two hours until I can afford to get out of here |

Agree trumpeting, Bob O'Donnell single tonging that etude is amazing!
Bob isnt the one doing the range study though, if you listen again some time, Claude clearly says after Bob finishes, we now have another player Mike (i cant make out the surname) who is with the ice follies, think he says he is only 20....great stuff!!

Eric,
Sorry mustn't have been paying attention. Although didn't Bob also play ice follies? Thought I read that somewhere too. Again, may not have been paying attention properly.
Either, wish my double C sounded like that Haha it's probably time to go through SA again. First time through did get me up to a weak Double B. Maybe second time through will make them more usable notes.
Also, that Old recording he put on was phenomenal. The articulation, flexibility, range and vibrato all sounded like a violin. Just a different timbre! |

There is a guy called Mike Paulson in the list of CG students on Jeffs site, and when you google , he has to be the guy.
He has a sales and repair business in Seattle and his list of credits as a player is huge, apart from the ice follies, there is Stan Kenton, 11 years as first chair in a Vegas show, major cruise ships....the list goes on.
Take a look
Cheers

It was Mike Paulson. Mike went on to be a lead player in Vegas. I believe it was the Lido de Paris show at the Stardust that had a Double C# near the end of the show that Mike would nail, show after show (back then, it was not unusual for the shows to run three times a night).
Jeff: Thanks SO MUCH for making this first recording and the ones to follow available!!!!!!!! |

There are now a dozen or so sound files on Jeff's site from Claude's brass camps in the 80's which i was made aware of just last week.
There is some great stuff in there i really enjoyed the presentations by Carl Leach and Dave Evans (im in Australia so dont know much about these guys)
I havent listened to that many so far but i will get through them eventually
Have a look, yes they are from decades ago but the messages are still the same and you get a feel for Claudes methods by hearing him deliver the message.
Cheers

The URL to use for all the audio is as follows:
https://www.purtle.com/jeff-audio-video
You need to be logged in to see the audio player. Eventually each audio lecture will be transcribed to text and have topical tags and tags for each speaker. You can see a hint of what is coming as far as the table display with a few tags already.
I hope you all enjoy. I not have 150 audio files that are 60 to 90 minutes each. I will be uploading those between now and the end of 2020 with the goal of all the Claude Gordon library to be online by the end of the year.
If anyone has audio, video, photos or other images then contact me so I can include those with what I am going to be posting. The goal is to let others experience the Claude Gordon camps as if they would have attended.
I owe my teaching and playing career to Claude and it is my goal to spread his teaching clearly.

Try now and let me know if it happens again. I didn't see it in Safari or Chrome. If it continues I can adjust some things to correct it. Let me know how you like it. I will be posting the first text transcription soon. Eventually everything will be searchable. _________________ Jeff Purtle

I am messing with some technical stuff in the backend of the site. Sorry about that. Write me direct if something like that happens again. In the next few days I am going to be changing some cosmetic things on the site that I hope people will like. Playing trumpet is so much more fun than this stuff. However, my goal for this year is to completely post all the Claude Gordon audio I have with the search, sort and topical tags. It will become a giant audio library to preserve everything. _________________ Jeff Purtle

The COVID-19 virus has allowed me to spend more time on this project.
Please, take a look at the following link.
https://www.purtle.com/audio/claude-gordon-1977-conference-lecture
You will see a summary excerpt of the full transcript of the lecture and tags for the topics mentioned. When you login you will see the full transcript and be able to play the audio.
This page is where the list of all audio is.
https://www.purtle.com/jeff-audio-video
It will eventually be more sortable by speaker, date, and topic. The plan is that by September 2020 I will have about 150 audio lectures uploaded and transcription of the text will follow.
If you have any audio content of Claude Gordon or his brass conferences I would appreciate adding it to this library. Any contribution is appreciated. I hope this helps spread the ideas of Claude Gordon and Herbert L. Clarke that have helped so many.
I will be upgrading the server to add Apache Solr search and Redis and some other backend server things to improve performance. This is obviously an expense but I hope it is appreciated. Share links to my site and consider private lessons or hosting me for a clinic or master class.
Stay healthy and use this time to practice smarter.
