I don't know any (Monument's a bit far from Chicago), but they are out there. I suggest you post in the Lounge -- this isn't exactly a pedagogy question.
XrRydr -- There are "brass friendly" dentists who are better acquainted with our needs and afflictions. It's not that we have different needs, though there are some now and then (callouses/cysts from playing, etc.), but some dentists understand our concerns and need to play. They may simply may take more care with our lips (maybe you've never had a lip sliced by a hygenist who said "oops, sorry, it'll be ok in a few days, just a little scar on the inside, nobody will see"). Sometimes, they can suggest alternative, more "brass-friendly" procedures. And, sometimes, they can handle major chop trauma better than your average dentist.

Thanks Senor Herman. That's what I meant, 'brass friendly'. In the past I heard some guys talking about "brass dentists" who move the teeth around in order to better the air stream, so to speak. Like for example, when Bud was in a car accident and knocked some teeth out, who did he go to see?
Thanks,

There's a dentist in Lombard named Jim Mayo who played trumpet at the University of Illinois. He doesn't specialize in treating brass players but he would be more familiar with their needs than most. He's also a young guy who may be more up on current treatment modalities, including implants, than older practitioners. _________________ Jim Hatfield

What does Dr. Mayo call his practice, the "Mayo Clinic?" Sorry, I couldn't resist. |

Yeah, people are always kidding him about his "Mayo Clinic." And when he and I play tennis doubles and he calls one out I like to say, "Mayo nays." _________________ Jim Hatfield

That's Mr. Corleone to you... OK, I figured you knew, my sense of humor gets me in trouble now and then.
As for the Vikings, I used to live in Duluth, MN, and remember when the Vikings were great! Now, of course, I live in CO, home of the almighty Broncos... Why just last year, they almost made it into... something. What were we talkng about? Is it related to sound-based trumpet pedagogy? I think I'm going to have to move this thread, simply because I don't have a good football team to talk about at the moment...

Signor Corleone Herman,
You may not have a football team worth rooting for, but you do have nice scenery out there. I love Colorado.
Full disclosure: this post had nothing to do with the trumpet. |

There is a brass dentist in Chicago that advertises in ITG.
You might also see if you can contact some of the CSO guys. |
