I need to order a copy of the Halsey Stevens "Sonata" for my All-State tryout in two weeks. I found a copy for sale at a place called "Sheet Music Plus", and I was wondering if anyone has had any interactions with them. Do they have a good rep?

Any other suggestions? I kinda need the piece before Saturday the 22nd.

Thanks guys. If this is in the wrong forum....sorry about that. I didn't exactly know where to post it.

Lara

You might want to post it in Literature also. I think you will get more traffic here though.

I bought something from them last year. No problems, although I don't recall being amazed at how fast it got here.

I've bought from Sheet Music Plus several times and never had a problem. The best source for brass music I've ever dealt with is Solid Brass Music Co. -www.sldbrass.com - but unfortunately it doesn't look like he stocks the Halsey Stevens Sonata.

Good luck-
Dave

I order from sheetmusicplus all the time. The service is great. I don't remember exactly, but if they offer you "budget" or "free" shipping, don't do it. It'll take a month. Just pay the regular shipping. Also try, www.jwpepper.com

They're forcing you to buy it to try out for all state? Someone getting kick-backs from the music publishers these days?

I'm bad at ordering music, to be perfectly honest . When you decide on where to order from, and get the piece, go ahead and tell me if all went well. I need to order the Stevens, among other solos, to start piling up some literature.

I found my All-State audition (Fete Joyeuse) and last year's (Andante et Allegro) at www.jwpepper.com. Just make sure you have the correct publishing company (Andante et Allegro had several different versions from different companies).

You should try him on international deliveries - Dave beats some UK firms - and they are only delivering a few miles down the road!!

Thanks everyone for your help!

I ended up ordering it from Sheet Music Plus. It should get here in about a week, which is a good thing.

Thanks!

I think Dave knows how frustrating it can be to have music on order for ages - he is a performer and surely knows how eager most performers are going to be to get their hands on new scores.
A great guy to do business with.

Not to my knowledge. I was looking to get the same piece, but didn't see it on his list when I picked up my music from him today. My list may be outdated though so I could be wrong.
