I dunno, I think I should be putting this maybe in recordings, but this summer I've decided to take a good schedule for practicing. I'm going to about 8 Charlier exercises, and some stuff out of the arbans and schlossberg. I'm also going to learn the 1st movement of the Tomasi. I need to know a good recording to listen to.
Since I'm dead broke right now, I'd like to at least have a recording to listen to and learn it from ear. I'll order the music when I get the money to spare.
Thanks guys,

Don't try to learn the Tomasi by ear! Get it from a friend , teacher , the local drunk; but get the music first. Heck, get in touch with me before you try that; I wouldn't try that on a bet. that piece is too hard. |

Uhmn...getting all the notes aint hard. It's just imitation at this point. I'd just actually like to see the Rhythm and Note Values of what I'm playing! I've saved LOTS of money by just learning music by hearing it. I need to build my music library. I learned the Neruda my freshman year on Bb trumpet....I didn't know any better lol. At any rate thanks for the concern.... _________________ BM Oklahoma City University

Jon Kratzer is goooooood!
Heard him play. I was very impressed. No doubts that he could learn it by ear.

Well, thank you for the compliment/concerns but no one has told me anything about their suggested recordings and why they favour it! So I'll state it flat it out:
What is your favourite recording of the Tomasi, why? How old is it? etc..
Thanks

I like Andre's recording if you can find it on record.
I also like Eric Aubier's recording that is on CD. It is passionate and well played. There is also a very good record of Pierre Thibaud, if you can find it.
You can't go wrong with any of these recordings. |

Wynton Marsalis has a commonly available version though I prefer Maurice Andre's version which is very hard to find. |

I'd actually really like to get my hands on a Thibaud recording. But it's impossible to find one!!! Anyone has any tips? |
