I personally can't get enought of Doc Severinsen's "Unforgettably Doc" Cd. Amazing trumpet work on this one. My favorite song on there would have to be "Love". I also Like Bobby Shew's "Metropole Orchestra" recording. His version of "Joy Spring" is just amazing. Whats your guys favorite Ballad Cd/Song?

Hey Patrick! With so many great trumpet recordings of ballads, oddly enough, I keep going back to alto saxaphonist David Sandborn"s "Hideaway". I'm tellin' ya man, that album/CD can STILL bring a tear to the eyes! Yeah, I know its a Trumpet Forum but let's face it...GOOD MUSIC IS GOOD MUSIC!!!

I also like Clifford Brown With Strings. But, I forgot to mention what is my other favorite Ballad CD: Wynton Marsalis Standard Time Vol. 3: The Resolution of Romance. I can not get enough of this CD! I also just got Roy Hargrove's Moment to Moment. Sounds good so far!

Yup.

"I Can't Get Started" on Doc's 'Once More With Feeling' album with Tony Bennett rocks too.

I think that Roy Hargrove's album Moment to Moment is a pretty good cd. His sound is great, along w/some very nice string arrangments

Sorry.......the link I posted didn't work.

The piece was Warm Velvet by the Count Basie band on the album "Swing Shift".

I have to add: Doc's Command album from the '60's, "Torch Songs For Trumpet", and Chuck Findleys CD's "Star Eyes". I never tire of listening to these. Chucks playing on his solo CD is superb, and his sound on flugelhorn ... lets say if it doesn't give you goose bumps, you are not human.

It's not a trumpet CD but it's with Stan Getz and Kenny Barron called "People Time", the other is Dizzy and Oscar Peterson called "Oscar Peterson and Dizzy Gillespie" on Pablo.
