Hey Orioles Fans,
This is heavy....
http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20051208&content_id=1279845&vkey=news_bal&fext=.jsp&c_id=bal
There is also a ton of info on the message board at
www.orioleshangout.com
At first it is a stunner, and seemingly the final nail in the Orioles' coffin.
BUT, something keeps me optimistic about the team....apparently demand for our young pitchers and pitching prospects at the winter meetings has been enormous - proof in the pudding that Cabrera, Bedard, Loewen, and Penn are percieved by many many many (other than the O's) as being the real deal. This, coupled with Leo Mazzone as our pitching coach, has me optimistic about our future.
PERHAPS, we could engineer a BLOCKBUSTER DEAL with the Rangers....say Tejada and Mora for Mark Tex. and Blalock???? Even if we trade him elsewhere, he would command a powerful package of top drawer prospects.
This is getting heavy.....can't wait for the sports talk shows tomorrow.
Later on,
Greg |

That's OK. Maybe you'll have the pleasure of meeting him in a dark alley one day! Make sure YOU'RE the one holding the bat, though!

That deal wouldn't make sense for Texas. For starters, they already have an all star shortstop in Michael Young. Second, they want and need pitching and last that I saw, Tejada and Mora do not pitch every 5 days. Third, They might deal Blalock(as rumored in the Josh Beckett talks) but they won't deal both. Might as well get used to having to deal with an overpaid crybaby shortstop(does that sound familiar or what?) _________________ Jim New S5 M and MS with C Backbore

Don't worry about the pitching staff folks, y'all just got the Jedi Master of pitching coaches in Leo. |
