Did Mendez ever play C or Piccolo Trumpet or did he do all of his work on Bb?

One time he played a shepherd crook cornet, as can be seen on this image:

As Dave pointed out the playing in the movie was probably a fake. (On the soundtrack he used his trumpet.)
