Best sound goes to Roy Hargrove IMO
Even before his inderbinen era (check him on 'everything I have is yours' from 1993 of kindred souls.
Best everything else goes to Tom Harrell, as he is for me the absolute commander of the melody troough the instrument. Check him with Philip Catherine (Moods vol 1 & 2) or his solo on 'I can't get started' live with Joe LOvano (Village Vanguard). So much music and accurate versatility... _________________ C. LeLoiL

Both amazing.
As curiosity, What was Hargrove playing before his Inderbinen? _________________ My go-to Trumpet and Flugel: Thane.

You are probably right. I just got an OIRAM ACK and it's just fantastic (till I find something better )...but my Couesnon has never done me wrong. _________________ My go-to Trumpet and Flugel: Thane.

First time I actually got to play a flugel, an acquaintance handed me a well used Couesnon. He warned that it had some dodgy intonation and wasn't in a terrific state of repair. Still, that is the sound that got imprinted on my brain to this day. _________________ "I'm an engineer, which means I think I know a whole bunch of stuff I really don't."

I don't think I've seen one that is not in some state of repair. _________________ My go-to Trumpet and Flugel: Thane.
