Does anyone know of a great sounding piece (church related) that I can play with our pipe organ? We've played 2 hymns together and the congregation loves it and wants more. I have the hymnal in Bb, but was thinking of a little more special music thing. But not wedding music. Thanks if anyone can help. On a scale of 6 with 6 being the expert... i'm a 4 that can play 5 with practice, but nothing above a high C please. |

Mel Bay publishing has some great arrangements for hymns for trumpet and organ. It is melody/descant style, but the arrangements are very nice. The descants go as high as Eb but generally there are optional endings that do not require notes above high C. I have used many of them for church and they are always well received by the congregation. I think the book for trumpet/organ has 7 pieces, with some of the tunes combining 2 or more hymns. _________________ Best Regards, Play Well!! |

If you play piccolo trumpet, Galliard Battaglia by Scheidt is an awesome piece. It can be played with either 1 or 2 piccolo trumpeters. Works best in the key of A, and it also works well on D trumpet. _________________ Best Regards, Play Well!! |

A lot of Phil Driscoll's music is available via Mighty Horn Ministries. A good keyboard player can play the pieces on organ for a very nice effect. Classic Hymns Volumes 1 and 2 is a great place to start. _________________ Best Regards, Play Well!! |
