I read somewhere that he did his undergrad with "Android Sandoval" in the Omega Quadron. Did his masters work with "Mark Bender" of Conania O' Bygon fame. And is currently doing his doctoral work with the master himself-- Wynton Optimarsalis Prime at the Omicron Theta Sector IV school in Andromada.
Still not sure how he forms his embrochure but I heard that he can play all the way up to an R2D2!!! With this kind of instruction plus his natural ability, I think he will be THE trumpet player of the millennium and will boldly play what no trumpet player has played before. _________________ "Run towards your problems, not from them"

Craig, I applaud you!
As far as my understanding goes, the lips are one, maybe two pieces of thick latex that have a hole in it/them. They are anchored into the plastic/metal in the face. The pitch is controlled by the speed and compression of the air and I think that there may be a mechanism to strech the latex, by I'm not sure about that. I have no idea about how it articulates.
I do know that there have been similar experiments, but not as complex as a robot! I can tell you this though, I don't think that the idea behind the embocure was to complex. It just moves the air throught the synthetic lips and goes!
All the best,

The damn thing SOUNDS robotic.
Congratulations, Toyota.
You've found a new way to disgust me. Does anyone else think this is kind of wrong? They should be spending their money on making their technology more environmentally friendly, not creating mindless robots to do what we work our asses off to do.
It's just... just wrong. Complete waste of resources. _________________ I dodge the warm fuzzies, are they contagious?

I saw a robot that played flute on youtube, I wasn't too impressed. But now they have one that can play a real instrument? _________________ Lucas Tracy
