I got a picc. trumpet for my b-day and I have been using my old trumpet books to practice on it. Are there any good books out there that deal JUST with the picc. trumpet?

"Method for Piccolo Trumpet - Volume 1" by Gerald Webster - The Brass press
"Method for Piccolo Trumpet - Volume 2" by Gerald Webster - The Brass Press
"The Piccolo Trumpet - Duets, Etudes, Orchestral Excerpts" - by David Hickman - Tromba
"The Piccolo Trumpet Big Book" - by David Hickman - Tromba
"Trumpet Baroque 2" by Mel Broiles - Manduca Music Publications

You will probably want to start with "The Piccolo Trumpet Big Book" by Hickman and then get them all. They are very, very good.

Hope this helps

If you are also looking for tunes to play with piano or organ, the following work well- fingerings will all be down an octave from written- read the Bb parts in D on the Bb side of the picc, read the Bb parts in E on the A side of the picc, transposing up 1/2 step (so you are playing in F) -
Concordia Publishing House collections:
Music of Jubilee, Suite for Organ, Baroque composers of the Chapels Royal - all edited by S. Drummond Wolff.

Hope Publishing has 2 excellent collections:The Classical Wedding, The Joyous Wedding, both arranged by Wallace/Head.

These books have many of the "standard" baroque trumpet pieces, in a wide range of levels. Welcome to the wonderful world of Picc trumpet!
