Hi, I got a question for Pops, or for anyone else who could answer it. I'd do about anything for a lesson with him, but my current financial situation won't let that happen! Do his books provide a fairly good basis of his teachings, or should I just keep on saving for an actual lesson? Thanks!

I have all his books, with the exception of his most recent. I learned quite a bit from them.

I've bought a few books recently, but just as helpful has been this forum. This is your budget alternative - perhaps the most comprehensive on-line guide to the trumpet in the world. I've made more progress in the last 6 months than I've made in the past 6 YEARS.....

I am a comeback player. The first thing I did when I decided to comeback is to buy Pops' books. ( I had followed rec.music.makers.trumpet so I was aware of him). Best move I ever made. He explains all the essential concepts -breathing, buzzing, aperture, compression, tonguing -- its all there

And if you get his books, he'll most likely give you carte blanche in help either over the phone or through email.
