I'm trying to incorporate easy, medium, and hard days into my practice schedule to allow myself ample rest time and develop as a player.
Do any of you do this? I'd be interested to hear how you all deal with the structure of your practice sessions, et al.
Right now I'm trying to think of it as musical, repoire, and technical days. Musical = easy because I focus on the sound coming out of my horn. Repetoire = Medium because I focus of the musical aspect plus working out specific difficult passages. Technical = hard because I focus on music and, to a degree, the way that I produce the music.
Of course, all 'days' are relatively similar (a musical day has some technical exercises, but not as many as a technical day), but allow me to focus on different things.
Any recommendations?

I definately alternate my "workload" from day to day. I especially make it an easy day before a performance. But I do alternate... as far as specifics, I kinda take it as it comes.
I am not a pro but I am in 4 different groups now so I have to kind of deal with what is coming up next.
Good luck, and I am sure somebody else will have a more insightful response. _________________ Yamaha 6345S Bb Trumpet
