trumpetnyc --
Welcome to Trumpet Herald.
Please use capital letters where appropriate.
James Joyce's "stream-of-consciousness" style of writing, sans punctuation and capital letters has proven to be tedious.
"Net-speak" is also tedious. OK for text-messaging, I suppose.
~~ Namaste ....

trumpetnyc, welcome to TH. I see you've met RR, the site schoolmarm.
some of us have no problem with puntuation or capital letters, or even spelling for that matter, as we understand what you are trying to say
it is more about the message than the delivery to some of us, and on top of that, ee cummings proved you can be taken seriously without dem big letters |

I seldom back-off when trying to make a point. I will listen to reason, and admit when I am convinced I have egregiously erred.
We've debated this topic before, mostly in "The Lounge" and "Reveille" forums.
I recently had a verbal discussion with another (non-TH'er), regarding this subject. I went for "the jugular". I asked, "Are you too lazy ... or too stupid?"

Wow,
I guy who is totally full of himself and can tie it in to being zen? Very original man. Very original. You ignored the entire point because you are consumed with proving your intelligence to a guy who knows information about the subject at hand. Maybe he doesn't have the time you do to make sensless arguments about this garbage?
In summary, you are a loser who uses a yoga philosophy to bully people around on a trumpet website. You are pathetic. |

If you knew who I was you would know that meeting you would have no effect on my career. At all. |

Not to be a wet blanket, but wouldn't PMs be a better outlet for this shouting match than posts in a thread about Chris Botti? |

Haven't lost "one of these" yet. Several former TH'ers are ... (need an emoticom for "bye-bye").
Not keeping score ... but, about one per year.
Definitely not a "loser" in this arena ... I assure you. Bring it on. |

Not losing in this arena makes you a loser. It means you have no life. Bye Bye. |

Really? Who cares if someone doesn't sit and revise and spell check their posts? That would be ridiculous. It's a trumpet forum. If you care so much go visit some grammar forum. Grow up. No one gives if you have run people off of the site. To me you have lost all respect with the last few posts you have made. You sound like an AXXhole. How old are you? I guess that probably doesn't matter... I should ask for your mental age. Seriously people. This is a thread about Botti, not about a little girly internet forum fight. _________________ Lawler C7R

This is crazy, why are some of us fighting over simple grammatical errors that won't mean a thing in the grand scheme of life. As long as you get your point point across and we understand it, that's all that matters. Last time I checked we are not being graded by the Moderators on Punctuation and Spelling. Everyone makes typos, move on. |

interesting
i think the way to handle this is to never use punctuation spelll checkk or capitals again on this forum
i believe that anyone that is bothered by such things should be bothered often and consistantly
i suggest that anyone replying to roberts psts in the fture do the same _________________ 1921 Conn 80A Cornet

A final (I hope ) comment ....
I have a confrontational personality. No apology.
I am the guy that stops people in the grocery store "Express -- 10 Items or Less" aisle, that have a grocery cart full of items, obviously exceeding the 10 item limit. I first ask the check-out clerk if he / she OK'd the action, and then (if they say "no") ask the clerk to call for the manager. I ask the "offender" if they realize the situation, giving them an opportunity to correct it. If they become confrontational, I ask them which 10 items they wish to purchase, while I "help" them move their shopping cart aside. The arriving manager resolves the situation. Very embarrassing and humiliating for the "offender".
Does happen. Always elicits light applause from others in line ... and comments like, "I wish I could do that ... Thanks!".
No one is allowed in my home with a hat on. No excuses (unless presently undergoing chemotherapy treatment).
When dining out (restaurants ... I never patronize "fast food" establishments), if someone is being excessively loud, I politely ask them to refrain. If the offending party does not co-operate, I ask for a manager to assist.
Heaven help someone that "butts" in line, ahead of me.
Conversely, I am a "gentleman" ... and have been acknowledged as such by my peers. I try (earnestly) to do all the things expected of a man. Proper social manners and etiquette, with respect.
Also (conversely), I am a conservation-activist ... but, am no longer associated with "GreenPeace", as their confrontationist tactics, although effective, trouble me.
I am a certified physical-fitness and Yoga instructor, T'ai Chi, TM practioner. Also have other non-passive "skills", of which I shall not elaborate. I'm not a Buddhist monk.
Sadly, we are engaged in a time which I call "The Dumbing-Down of America".
It has become "cool" to be dumb. Witness: the "Redneck-Culture".
I should think we have been educated to the level where we use proper speech, punctuation and spelling -- to the best of our abilities. Unintentional mis-spells and "typos" are not at issue.
Hence, my admonitions here at this website. I am similarly active at other websites (I am a multi-instrumentalist). Same responses and resistance. I do receive encouragement, however. Many respondents inform me they ignore posts with egregious syntax, spelling errors, grammar gaffes, no caps, etc.
I stand fast.
I am reminded of a quote from Bill Watrous (trombonist-extraordinaire) -- "This is the age of grossness and stupidity. We celebrate mediocrity."

Either you were not given enough love as a child, your wife left you, or you feel like a tremendous failure in life because that was pathetic. My "Final Statement"-no one cares abou you and your impatience. Just continue to be a loser and care about capitalization on an internet forum, and everyone else will live their lives.
