Very nice! How does it play?
Here are a 1955 Olds recording cornet (Melk restoration)
And a 1946 or so Olds super recording cornet (raw brass)

More "plain-jane" than eye candy, and with the age difference, they can't really be twins. But I think they're cool!

Should there be a vote on the most beautiful? You can't vote for your own (mine's not here anyway).
I vote for Retlaw's Hub Van Laar Oiram flugelhorn: it has an Art Deco simplicity in the design. _________________ Early musician

I'll second that vote. Amazing looking horn. The extra weight on the third valve is incredible! |

Let's stop with all the foolishness with all these old horns and get down to the real stuff. Who will argue with me that they don't make a horn today as good or better than all these items you post thinking we should drool over?
Talk about being smooth, creamy, rich and full. Enough said.
My horn tops them all and it is fresh daily. Get in line before they are all gone!
By they way, I heard that Chris Botti will be playing and recording with a Vinci model just to show us all that he is a regular guy and looking to appeal to the masses. Wut ya tink? |

Oh my Goddess, that looks disgusting. Truly icky.
I think you need to delete that picture.

Here's some REAL eye candy, my 1927 Conn 22B in all its raw glory. This thing's been played.
Note the cool copper lower valve cases showing thru the silver plating. For you Conn experts who know that 27's didn't have them, I had the pinky ring added. The plating's gone on the middle of the bell 'cause it was flat as a pancake there when I bought it. The middle bottom valve cap is an old Getzen, and the mouthpiece receiver is a Bach, 'cause the original was twisted off and missing.....
A very good-playing trumpet, but not worth restoring. It gets played when I need an trumpet in "A".

OK, we've seen quite a few beautiful twins. How about some triplets? These were all born in Chicago:
1945 Chicago Benge 3X
1949 Chicago Benge LB
1948 Chicago Benge C

Here's a hasty, kitchen floor pic of cornet triplets from the 1960's:
Conn Director
Conn Connquest
Conn Victor
Notice how I've refrained from running a pic of my Bach cornet? _________________ "Brass bands are all very well in their place - outdoors and several miles away ." - Sir Thomas Beecham |

Thar she blows...
Or maybe this one - my main trumpet - a '77 Bach Strad 43 ML. Plain, but very nice.
