Too bad this is so expensive. If a company like Legends made this for less, it would be a big seller.

If it was made by Kanstul, then Jim New probably has the scan for it. Contact him and he could make it for half of that. _________________ Jim New S5 M and MS with C Backbore

Does the description not say that it's a copy of a Dimitri Donat mouthpiece? Just go straight to the source and get one from Donat. His pieces are fantastic. |

So this is the replica of the mouthpiece he played for a couple years towards the end of his career, when his playing was in great decline. He did a lot of his most sublime playing on a Bach 3C and a Monette B6. Not that the mouthpiece has much to do with that, just pointing that out. |

I played woodwinds for abut twenty years (Master degree minor in WW Performance), and $400.0 is not unusual for a mpc.. Brass players have been lucky for years. If paying $400.00 for great mpc means that your mpc safari has come to an end, (which can get into the thousands), it's worth it. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Hello:
I reached out to Mr. Donat, who told me this is his 165D2 model.

A few interesting points. However, this is a trumpet forum and a typical trumpet mouthpiece costs no where near $400. A violin bow can cost 5 to 6 figures, irrelevant, would you agree?
Why pay $400 when you can buy the exact same piece for less than half from Donat? You seem to enjoy high cost items just for the sake of paying a lot of money. |

My point is just that I think we brass players have been lucky. And if you read all the technical/acoustical information of TH about how particular parameters of trumpet mouthpiece design is, it's no less than that of a sax mouthpiece. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Contacted Donat who told me Roy was playing a 168D. His ideas are confused.
And anyway Roy played the best things with a common and banal Bach 3C. |

It remains to be known what mouthpiece Roy played. The 168D2 does not exist and nothing is known, depth etc. The 168D is not clear if it is the same played by Roy. So if I call Donat and ask him for a replica of Roy's mouthpiece, what does he sell me? |
