I have Roy Poper's book -- I like the additional detail it gives on how the exercises are to be done. It also helped me better understand the thinking underlying the Stamp approach.
I've never personally seen the other book mentioned, I only know of its reputation, which is excellent. _________________ Steve Thiel |

I have also used both books. I particularly like the updated version of Roy Poper's book. However the BIM book does have some insights that I got from my brief time with Mr. Stamp that are not in the Poper book. So why not get them both? _________________ Scott Apelgren

Seconding ScottA,
Both books are valuable tools for understanding the concepts put forth in the BIM book.
In my experience with teaching Stamp's methodology I have found that some students respond well to Roy's "conceptual" approach, and others are better off with Weiner's more systemmatic one. Most of the preference depends upon how the student is wired to learn.
Get both. |
