I've recently returned back to the UK from a family holiday to Kissimmee, Florida and persuaded the better half to let me disappear for a morning trumpet/gadget hunting. My son and I decided to take a drive up to Oviedo and visit Gerry Lopez Music. I really had no money to spend (Kids had spent it all at Seaworld/Universal etc) and apologised and explained this to Gerry. He was more than happy to let me browse at leisure and we had some good conversations. I wanted to come away with at least something and asked him to recommend a CD after giving my preference of style. I came away with Jeff Kievit's 'For Once'. Very impressed and right up my street.
As we were leaving Gerry recommended we visit Warburton's who I did not realise were just behind him. We did so and were met by Anne (Terry was away). I apologised for our lack of spending power. Anne immediately put us at ease, insisted we had an escorted tour of the mouthpiece manufacturing facility and also insisted we take home a Warburton T-Shirt each FOC for coming all the way from the UK for a look/see! It was brilliant to see, and have explained, how the mouthpieces are made (and particularly the plating operation in an old butler sink!).
The purpose of this message was to thank both Gerry and Anne for their hospitality and to recommend both to the trumpet community.
