What are the advantages/disadvantages of Toshi mouthpieces? The original website is in Japanese and I cannot understand it.
I actually use a 1 and 1/2 C Bach Megatone, but it is a little difficult to sustain in the upper register. Toshi mouthpiece seems to correct the problem.
Thank you very much for any information. _________________ Yamaha YTR8335LAs

I have a Toshi 16E
It is rather large and has a relatively deep cup.
I was told that Chris Martin brought one back from Japan on a visit to use with his rotary trumpet.
It works well on rotaries and I like it on piston horns as well.

Good luck |

I've tried Toshi mouthpieces, and actually I am currently using one for solo/brass quintet purposes. I personally think they are awesome pieces of art, and you can really tell that they are hand made by a professional as Mr Kameyama is. I highly recommend them, plus if you contact him, he is a nice guy and he will try to help you. |

I totally agree. I currently use his Hardenberger (HH) copy on my C and Bb. I like the large backbore which gives me lots of core to the sound and the 26 throat gives me a bit of zing when pushed. However some like a bigger (23) throat. I use a Toshi 16 EWS on the rotaries. This has a huge backbore and is reputedly a copy of the old Dehmal rotary mouthpiece. I had Toshi design a cornet mouthpiece based on my worn out Wick 2. This is definitely an improvement on the Wick. Easier to play in the upper register and more subtle in tone, although retaining the richness. |

I have a Toshi mouthpiece I bought second hand, it has the turtle logo and the letters "HB" stamped on it. Does anyone know what the HB denotes? |

Hi, I went to Toshi's website and clicked the English Translate window that came up in the upper right and was able to read description in English. However some of the spellings were off like the Early Elkhart Vincent Buck trumpet for sale, and the Jardinelli MP. Interesting site. I spent some time in Okinawa Japan when I was in the 3rd Marine Division (Later III MAF) Band. Went to the Yamaha store in downtown Hiroshima and had a fun time trying a Yamaha 739T in a glass room. They had me put on white cotton gloves before touching the horn.

The Hardenberger model is HH. I own one and have seen others. Don’t know who HB is |
