This is a request for anyone possessing a copy of Doc's "Basic Studies of the Pivot System" for TRUMPET. I have the Trombone version.
The Reinhardt Foundation is bringing these two publications back. Gloria Reinhardt has given her kind permission to publish them. They were returned to Doc in 1965 and taken out of the archives by Theo. Presser Publishers.
Please email me or send what you have to my home address that is on http://www.pivotalk.com , The Reinhardt Web site.
More news re: The Manuals. In conjunction with the Reinhardt Foundation, the ITG , Ralph Dudgeon and The Presser Publishers, The Manual of The Pivot System for TRUMPET & TROMBONE have a good chance of being made available once again. I will be glad to keep anyone up to date by email on this.
Thank you very much.

This is fantastic news!
Dave, I have Doc's beginner's method (a photocopy he gave me a long time ago) and it's around here somewhere. I know it is, because I was looking at it a few months back. This is not the book you're talking about, is it?
I'm sorry I haven't been very helpful in this cause, but that I'm so glad that you and the Reinhardt Foundation are bringing these books back from obscurity!
This is a great day in the legacy of Dr. Donald S. Reinhardt.

Rich,
If it reads DONALD S. REINHARDT'S Basic Studies For The Beginner and has the same cover as the Manual (The Trumpet with "On Trumpet" going into the mouthpiece), that's it! Hope you find it.
In regards to the ITG, they are really hot in getting brass books back into print. So Ralph Dudgeon has just been appointed to head the department to make this happen. Since he wrote the article on Doc in the ITG Journal, he personally is making it top priority for the Manuals to go back in print and has the ITG backing to urge Theo. Presser to do so, along with over 5000 Trumpet Players! This should convince Presser to re-issue the books at a reasonable price.
I will keep the Forum up to date on all of this.
Thanks,
Dave S. |

Dave,
I had that book and like a dummy gave it to one of my students years ago.
I never thought that I would ever have any problems getting Doc's books.
Little did I know..........
By the way, it's great to see you back on the forum again.

Yes, that's the book I have. I'll find it and get it photocopied and out to you pronto.
Does it need to be re-engraved? Or does Presser have the original plates?
