You should also get Bob Findley's Trumpet Method to learn the "how" in playing. His explanations are so clear and make so much sense, just like the recording of Laurie and John in Flexus. MCFB, Flexus and Bob's book should be sold as a set.

first i didn't do enough pauses, but now in the semester break i take about 2h and rest as much as i play and work straight through the plan presented in the book. in the last four weeks my range developed a whole tone, accuracy improved a lot, the sound has lots of overtones and is more clean as ever!

I studied with Carmine and John McNeil and can confirm Flexus is an ideal supplement / extension for Carmine's method.
