Is Exclipse cornet popular in British style brassband? I see only Yamaha and Besson. I have never seen it.
Thanks. |

Yes, very much so.
You will always see more Yammie's and Besson Sov's as they are more common. The Eclipse (red bell) has a sound similar to the old round stamp Sov's but without the tuning issues. I am currently saving my pennies to buy a red brass Eclipse cornet.
Both of the Eclipse cornets are built for British brass banding. _________________ 2007 Eclipse MR

I've been looking at the Eclipse cornet myself as also to the Bach 184 and the Schagerl cornet. Don't like the playing properties of the Besson so much, so I've been looking at some other, maybe less "BBB" kind cornets.
Maybe you can post the same question on the Brass forum too (http://www.brass-forum.co.uk). Tend to be more brass band players reading those postings

I just got an Eclipse cornet and I very happy about my purchase. I don't have to work nearly as hard as I did on my previous cornet. The Eclipse is very responsive, plays in tune with itself and sounds great to boot. What's not to like? |
