|As much as I love having this beautiful little thing, it needs to go to someone who not only loves it for its rarity but will also play it. This is a fixed-bell Schilke D1, serial number puts its manufacturing year in 1967. In addition to being a fantastic player, it’s also a rare find. I reached out to Jim Donaldson of Schilke Loyalist (May he Rest In Peace) who informed me that over the years they made this instrument their total production number was only 22. I can send you a picture of our email correspondence. |
There are a couple of small plating wear spots around the valve block at contact points (which I’ve done my best to capture in the photos) but everything about this horn functions the way it is supposed to. The slides and valves function today just as good as I’m sure they did when it came off the production line over 50 years ago.
I am willing to hear reasonable offers on price, especially if you can pick up locally in the Dc-MD-VA-lower PA area. I’m not trying to get rich on this, I simply want to get out of it what I’ve put in. Take a look at the pictures and let me know what questions you have, and for pictures. I can’t seem to upload them here.
