I’m selling some trumpets for Boyde Hood (formerly of the LA Philharmonic).
Getzen ML, Long bell, D trumpet. This was used in the LA Philharmonic-Before the trumpet section used rotaries for the appropriate pieces. It was used on Haydn and Mozart compositions frequently. Also, it was used for the Ravel Piano Concerto, and for Pulcinella.
When Boyde was in the Milwaukee Symphony (64-67), he and Charlie Schluter spent a lot of time at Getzen. The designer, Merle Hiermann brought these two trumpet players to work on the the newest C trumpets, both the Eterna and the 300 series, the two trumpet players requested a D trumpet that played like a C trumpet-That is to say a C trumpet (longer bell) on a ML or a L bore body. Merle came up with the two models. These horns came out in the Eterna line exclusively. This horn is a result of that collaboration
