|I have a restored Chicago-era (pre 1949) Humes & Berg Cleartone Mute! Most of the mutes I restore were non-functional and ready for the junk heap when I started with them and now ready for their new life with you. Many of my restorations are now in the hands of collectors or players in groups like the Kennedy Center Orchestra and major DC service bands.|
These may look like the ones you see today but have little in common. The best comparison is between a NY or even a Mt. Vernon Bach Stradivarius to current offerings. This was made during a time when they were leading the pack on researching different mute designs and materials and dimensions changed over time for various reasons including a fire that marked their move from Chicago, ILL to East Chicago, IND.
Normally $185 but in celebration of finding my Bach Sterling Plus flugelhorn and wanting to clear space in my storage room I’m selling the last of my stock at $150 each which includes US shipping! I’m not planning on adding stock back after this and only focusing on client restorations so once they’re gone they’re gone. After this supplying mutes will be up to you!
Here is a video link of the mute in action!
I can also restore one you already own for $100 including return shipping.
