For sale is a rare opportunity to play a like-new King Super 20 Silver Sonic cornet from the late 60s! This thing is immaculate. It must have either been sitting in a music storeroom, or somebody bought this new in the 60s, and never really played it. Either way, it’s probably your only chance to play one of these in the same condition it left the factory. It has no scratches, dents, dings, or any other signs of use that I can find.

The King Super 20 Silver Sonic cornet was the very top of the line King Master cornet available. It has a solid sterling silver bell as well as a solid sterling silver leadpipe. The inside of the bell is gold plated, and the rest of the cornet is lacquered brass with nickel trim. The bell is a medium to heavy gauge, and the weight of the horn is on the heavier side of average. The valves work flawlessly (they actually need to be broken in a little more). Of course, because they are still like new, there are no compression issues with this horn at all. It plays exactly as it was designed.

The only issues I can find is that the 1st and 3rd slides are super tight. I don’t know if they just need to be broken in, or if a tech needs to make the tubes perfectly parallel (only takes a couple minutes). Also, the valves do have a little bit of staining on them. It does not in any way affect the valve function.

The case is in like new condition as well. The only issues are a few very light scuffs on the outside mostly likely due to storage. The inside looks new.

Included with this sale are the original pamphlets and tags that came with the horn (see picture).

Of my cornet mouthpieces, the Curry fits perfect, and so do some of the Bachs. However, A couple of the Bachs wobble ever so slightly. Unlike the early years of King, the cornet receiver on this horn accepts a modern standard mouthpiece taper.

I’ve had MANY transactions on Trumpet Herald over the past 15 years, and all of them have been successful. I can provide references if needed. I’m not a dealer, so I can’t accommodate a return. Obviously if the horn arrives damaged, or if I’ve grossly misrepresented the horn (which I’m not), then you will be made whole. I’m only mentioning this because occasionally a buyer might just want to try the horn out, and if they don’t like it ask to return it.

Shipping is FREE to the continental U.S. I’m sorry but I do not want to ship to another country at this time. Paypal is my preferred payment method. The price is $1600 which I believe is very fair for such a once-in-a-lifetime cornet, but feel free to make an offer!

Please do not hesitate to ask questions, or request other pictures. I want you to be very comfortable with your purchase.
