My name is Chris and I grew up playing multiple instruments (tenor and alto saxophone, clarinet, marching snare drum, drum set, other percussion instruments such as xylophone and marimba and some recorder). My instrument of choice is the marching snare for which I was awarded two time best solo (Golden Empire Competition '01 and '02) in competition against musicians ranging from middle school (me) through college level. I was also awarded best duet (maybe in '03) and honored with a command performance.
The world of brass instruments is rather foreign to me even though my father is an avid trumpet player and mother a passionate trombone player. As my parents are starting to be beyond their playing years, I'm trying to learn more to (1) better understand this world and (2) use my newly found knowledge to help them begin liquidating some of their horns. |
