I need to sort my NY Bach out, but would much prefer not sending it across the pond.

Swedish customs has a tendency to "not understand" when you say you are actually getting your OWN horn back from repair!

If you have paied for an repair, you will get tax on the repair/shipping cost. Probably not in the EU! I know some platers in Norway, but not sure about valve plating! Anyhow, I know some people in Germany that probably can help you! Let me know and I can get you in touch with them:-)

You could try F. H. Lambert based in Watford UK.

They carry out complete instrument renovations.

Will Spencer

www.willspencer.org

One of the three people in the UK I will trust with my instruments (the others being Leigh McKinney (Eclipse Trumpets) and Michael Rath (Rath Trombones).

I have had a Bach go through a full valve rebuild from Will and it was SUPERB (the valves were possibly the best part of the trumpet)

Will is a very humble guy!!

Called him today-thanks for the tip by the way-and he said he does an "OK" job on valves, but there are others much better than him!!

I'm sending him the horn shortly!

I highly recommend Christoph Endres in Nuremberg, Germany:
http://www.blechin.de/

He is an expert in restoring vintage horns. He can either replate your valves or make a set of complete new ones for a very reasonable price.

I had him manufacture a set of three brand new valves for an Olds Super. The valves are wonderful and work perfect. Very professional work. At the time (about 2 years ago) I paid 300 EUR for all three valves. You can hardly beat that.

And while you're at it, try his horns too. Wonderful craftmanship and play like a dream.
