Obviously, our next step is to create a forum dedicated to the unique qualities of the Trumpet/Cornet. This fine, and very rare, instrument has been neglected too long! _________________ Bach Stradivarius 37

For the current price (£1) it might almost be worth it. As yet I haven't acquired such a "rare" beast.
Taking a look at that mute, it might be worth buying just for the mute - especially if the price doesn't rise! |

The mute is obviously just there to point of the rare features of the instrument. It is pointing to the lacquer. |

Oh my goodness! I have one of those! I didn't realize it was so rare! Of course, mine says "YCR-231", so I was under the false impression that it was a common student trumpet. I'd be willing to sell it to anyone for the small price of $1200 - Cheap for a piece of history!
Seriously, I can't see this selling for any huge price. The only people stupid enough to think that it's rare (read: Parents looking for a horn for their 5th/6th grade kid) probably wouldn't want their child to have a "unique" and different horn that might not fit in. I have to wonder if the seller is evil or just dumb. |

Hi
It's obvious that this horn isn't rare but it's no dog either. If the horn has been 20 years in this chaps ownership then it will be a 6XX series (pro) horn. You can tell this because the 3rd ring is fixed and it has a 1st saddle. It is only recently in the UK that a saddle has been placed on the 1st valve and the 3rd ring on 2XX series horns in the UK has traditionally been movable.
It's certainly worth more than the £34 it is currently at.
