I just wanted to thank Trent Austin and Austin Custom Brass in Kansas City, MO for joining the Getzen/Edwards family of dealers. At a time when so many retailers are reluctant to bring in stock, Trent went ahead and ordered up Eterna Deluxes and X-13’s.
We’re excited to have him on board and look forward to working with them. Oh, and if you want a first hand review of the 800DLX Eterna Deluxe cornet ask Trent. I’m not sure, but I think he likes his. _________________ Brett Getzen

Seconded, which I suppose means a fourfold temptation for me? _________________ 1932 King Silvertone cornet

Smart move, Brett. Getzen is in good hands.
I have great admiration and respect for Trent and his fantastic staff. Of all the horns I own, the only one I didn't buy from ACB was my Getzen. I would have but at the time details had not been worked out between Getzen and ACB. Really glad they are worked out now.

Best thing is that Trent's a player and knows what he's selling by the way it plays. The X-13 is one of the best new designs of recent years, I love mine!

Thank you Brett!
It's so incredibly wonderful to have your instruments featured in our shop! We can't wait to show them all off to our customers. I am just sorry I didn't do this sooner but now's the time to make up for that.
We will be ordering some more horns shortly I have a feeling the x13 we just got in will sell quickly and we've already sold the others I think. My 800DLX cornet is such a joy to play I don't think I have ever enjoyed playing a shepherd's crook cornet more than this one! It's stunning!
Best regards from KC (currently experiencing a heat wave at 19 degrees). Stay warm everyone!

It's more than a store - it's a Brand - it's a sales slogan - "GetAustin" (Sounds like a fluff story on Entertainment Tonight- "Celebrity Couples"). Congratulations to 2 GREAT Trumpet Institutions - Getzen and Austin Custom Brass. Definetely one pairing that won't end in Divorce
Hey Brett and ACB, is there any chance we see an Eterna “Super” Deluxe (900DLX) with a sterling bell like the old Getzen Super Deluxes from the 50’s and 60’s?

When I sold the Getzen Company to Brett and Adam they also got my collection of vintage Getzen instruments. Included was a Super Deluxe cornet, trumpet and trombone all with sterling silver bells. Also one each with the “Copra Temp” copper bells. Pretty rare and of course not for sale.
So I guess I have to get one of my kids an account on here so we can have three Getzen generations commenting. How do you guys feel about none stop Minecraft and Roblox talk?
As for a sterling silver belled Eterna Deluxe, don't hold your breath. The problem with sterling silver is that it can be extremely difficult to work with in sheet form. That's why so many manufacturers use electro formed (plated) sterling silver bells. Similar to many copper bells out there. That wouldn't be a problem except that the plated SS bells are thick, sluggish, and dead sounding compared to a true sheet SS bell.
Years ago we had a supply of SS sheet bells we used to make the 900SB Eterna Sterling. They were very well received. In fact we sold out of the first 50 or so at the NAMM Show that year. The bells were sourced from Germany and as we needed and ordered more, the price kept climbing. Eventually, the bells cost more than the rest of the trumpets. We looked at switching to a plated bell, but the performance was terrible and there was nothing we could do to correct it. They were so bad in fact, that we decided to discontinue the model rather than use the inferior bell. It was either that or charge over $1,000 more for the 900SB vs a traditional 900.
Long story short, considering we can barely keep up with demand on the current 900DLX and 907DLX, I don't see us adding a sterling belled option anytime soon if ever.
ps Don't forget, the Eterna Deluxes all have sterling silver leadpipes. _________________ Brett Getzen

spot on!
Making bells from Sheet Sterling (like my Adams Coppernicus) is absolutely no joke and a huge undertaking. Electro-formed Sterling bells underperform IMO, don't work well in colder temps, and they are nothing like the responsiveness you get from the sheet sterling. I know the upcharge at Adams for a Sterling bell is around $1200 and while I think it's a nice upgrade for my own personal horn with the large flare and diameter I think the 900DLX plays great as-is. Plus I love the idea of a sterling mouthpipe for so many reasons.
Off to record some on the X13 for the listing. Sometimes my job doesn't suck!
Thanks again for these great horns!
Best,
