My last purchase was a Jerome Wiss 6/20 arrived mid June last year. This is my ultimate horn, I do not lust after any other. I have Bachs, Selmers, Olds and lots of others.
Regards, Stuart. |

These days I actually prefer lacquered horns, not because of any kind of sonic difference, but because the finish actually holds up better for me over time. Today's lacquer isn't the same as lacquer from yesteryear - it's thinner and much tougher, so there's very little difference sonically. |
The lacquered Mauriats were the first I've bought. The one with the antique finish (which I've seen on many brands now), I probably wouldn't do again, since it started wearing pretty fast. The one in regular lacquer I really like. I think each of us have different chemistry. I'm not hard on silver, but I don't really know what my hands do to lacquered trumpet. I'm also curious how long modern lacquers hold up. Part of the fun of trying different gear... |

Getzen Eterna Severinsen Mod. LB. This is the rare .468' model. Not the best sounding Eterna in my small collection but fun to play _________________ Technology alone is a poor substitute for experience. (Richard Sachs) |

Oops, I forgot that my Conn 22b NYS 1924 is a pandemic horn as well!
Goldwash, the whole shebang
A very good horn, I take it to rehearsels of our symphonic orchestra, just to tease my fellow trumpetplayer who bought last summer a brand new Bach 190-43 _________________ Technology alone is a poor substitute for experience. (Richard Sachs) |

Olds Standard, I think about a '47. LOVE it. I finally get to play a real "Pro" trumpet and understand the true meaning of the word. I'm looking forward to getting a couple mpcs for it as I have been playing cornets for the last little while and only had the usual 7C and I think a Blessing 6. Almost certainly going to buy a Curry 30m. Not sure what else. Maybe a Bach 10 1/2 CW or a Heavy Yamaha if I could get some model number recommendations on the latter ?
I might also ask for a deep V cup suggestion for my Cornets as I've been playing them bright with Curry 30M and 30 C. time to get soft. |
Deeper cornet mouthpiece suggestions: Austin Custom Brass A cup or TF cup, Yamaha David King... I know a lot of people here swear by one of the Curry or Denis Wick lines but I have not had the opportunity to play them. My primary deeper (but not British Brass Band deep) cornet mouthpiece is a Monette B11 which I spent over a year combing the internet for. Perfect for me but it's a bit wider than a Bach 1 so maybe not the best fit for you given your post. _________________ 1932 King Silvertone cornet

It is a lot of fun to read about everyone's acquisitions.
I bought a used Taylor Standard flugelhorn in raw brass from J. Landress Brass. This is a wonderful horn especially after I paired it with a Taylor mouthpiece. Absolute pleasure to play. Also have a ACB mouthpiece for it.
Nikolai Mänttäri Morales made me a wonderful natural trumpet modeled after a Haas trumpet (the Angel Headed trumpet mentioned by Altenburg in his Trumpeters and Kettle Drummers Art book as one of the best). If you go to his website, https://www.mmhistoricbrass.com/haas , the trumpet pictured there is mine. Nikolai has also made me four historic mouthpieces as I have worked my way up to the historic sizes (which actually make a big difference for me).
Just before things shut down, I bought a Manchester Brass pocket trumpet from Austin Custom brass, and this has become my travel horn and the one I often keep in my office (at home) for picking up to try things I find online or in online study sessions.
I have another custom project under way and it should be completed in a month or so. _________________ Bb: Schilke X3L AS, Yamaha YTR-6335S

My first piccolo! A true adventure! Playing my first solo performance with it at the end of this month. Really looking forward to playing this horn even more!

That's the 1C, isn't it? I've only seen one. The current band director at my high school has one. Weirdest bell on any trumpet. It looks like something out of a Dr. Seuss book! |
It's stamped "1X" and is ML bore. Serial number in the high 4000's.
Hadn't paid much attention to the bell flair, but now that you mention it... _________________ "I'm an engineer, which means I think I know a whole bunch of stuff I really don't."

How do P. Mauriats compare to Carols?
I'm a huge fan of Carol. |

My college roommate from long ago "borrowed" my 1984 first run Yamaha 6335S when I stopped playing in 2000. He kept it on loan until I started playing again in 2014 when he very reluctantly gave it back, though he never ceased bugging me about "loaning" it back to him again. He came to visit a few days after my Wife passed away in January of this year bringing several horns for possible trade, among them, a 2002 Yamaha 8335 RGS that had belonged to a mutual friend, Army Band buddy who passed away a decade ago. I agreed to an even trade and immediately sent the horn to Jim Becker at Osmun for some bodywork and a Precision Valve Alignment. I love the finished product as much for the sentimental value as the actual greatness of this horn!
What a win!

Hi
Got a Selmer 28a Grand Prix Balanced model 1953.
Definite pea shooter style wrap .
The third valve seems okay the first and second not so good.
I'm up here in Canada and one of the Brass shops on the west coast recommended a shop in Seattle, I'll try get it down there eventually.
http://www.oberloh.com/ anyone familiar with them ?
Must be the closest option from here that does complete valve work.
Guess my last account was with the late Trumpet Master site.
Signed up today ! Thanks Admins -- hello all |

Add in a 1918 Holton EEb tuba (plays much better than my old Conn 12J) and a brand new XO John Fedchock model tenor trombone. Played that one on a couple of gig lately and it is VERY nice! _________________ BKA! Mic Gillette was my mentor and friend.

In Nov 2021 I bought a 1956 Martin Committee #3 for $20. I had it dismantled, repaired, reassembled. I advertised it and it was sold in under an hour.
As a result, I know have carte blanche from my wife to spend hours in 'Antiques and Collectibles Shops. Some on here know the story already.. _________________ 1934 Olds French Model - ser no: 1741
