I dunno . . . the belly button fluff and love doll collectors have a look in their eyes that suggests they've achieved 'total awareness'.

Nice collection. But until you get a tuba and spend some time playing it, your brass experience will have a certain emptiness in the low end. |

I didn’t realize how amusing this thread would be. Thanks for the laughs. I do play several of the instruments during worship services. Depending on circumstances, I may switch for preludes, congregational hymns, offertories, postludes, etc. for variety’s sake. _________________ Stephan

I gotta do this. At one point, when I was free-lancing, I simultaneously had:
Trumpet (Martin Committee)
Eb Alto horn (East German)
French horn (Hans Hoyer)
Hunting horn (Czech)
Cow's horn (Grandfather)
Soprano sax (Yanagasawa)
Alto sax (Selmer)
Tenor sax (Keilwerth)
Irish flute (P. Olwell)
Western flute (Azumi)
Piano (Yamaha)
Recorders (Moek)
Baroque flute (Moek)
Feadogs
Shakuhachi (bought in Japan too long ago to remember)
Soprano Ukulele (KoAloha)
Tenor Ukulele (Kala)
Man, I just took a good look at that. That's a lot of money. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

Good call. I know it’s a cure for CSS (chronic snowmobile syndrome) and HVGP (habitual video game play). _________________ Brett Getzen

Actually, after I ordered my Proteus (Getzen Bb horn #3) last year, I told my wife "This will probably be the last horn."
She looked at me and said, "But we can never have enough bikes or horns!"
I took her at her word and ordered an X-13 two weeks ago.

Not a cure, but collecting brass instruments can seem very reasonable when you have relatives who collect sports cars or wood-working equipment. |

I’m currently in recovery, down to 12 instruments. I haven’t bought one in a few years, and have sold off most of the ones I never played or had any emotional attachment to. Here’s the current stable:
2 Bb trumpets
1 C trumpet
1 Eb/D trumpet
3 Bb cornets
1 A/Bb/C cornet
1 Bb flugelhorn
1 Bb field trumpet
1 G field trumpet
1 Bb “Gunga Din” bugle _________________ "Brass bands are all very well in their place - outdoors and several miles away ." - Sir Thomas Beecham |

I do not deserve her. But I would not have pulled the trigger on the horn if the $ was really needed elsewhere. |

Oh wow . . .
Actually, because this is the horn forum. If you want to talk about mouthpieces, start a thread in the mouthpiece forum! |
