The 169C is a bit deeper than the Bach 3C, but the diameter feels narrower.
I feel it tighter. The Touvron is a very particular mouthpiece in my opinion. I would go slow to recommend it. I found it very difficult.
As far as I'm concerned, the transition from Bach 3C to Donat 169C was not easy. It took me months to adjust. Initially the sound was horrible, then the high notes didn't come. Months of work, but it was worth it.
I would love to hear from others' experience with the 169C, particularly if they have had difficulty transitioning from their mouthpiece
I've always played around the Bach 3C. The Donat 169C is shorter with a bigger, deeper throat .... and I'm getting on in age !! I don't know exactly why, but it took me some time to adjust to this mouthpiece. The high notes did not come. Then everything started working and I didn't play anything else. Is fantastic.
I can only tell you that I had a Monette B4S3 and sold it. For me there is no comparison, much better the Donat 169C. (I state that I never really liked the Monette sound)
I'm sorry the post has disappeared. Few play Donat. Difficult to make comparisons. I found on the Internet that someone found the 169C too jarring, tinny. It didn't seem like it. Too bad for the few posts.
A recent dialogue with my man the great Rob Clearfield. Hope you'll enjoy. _________________ C. LeLoiL

He has a very similar sound with the flugelhorn and with the trumpet. He really doesn't need a flugelhorn. In this case, clearly the sound is more the credit of the musician than of the mouthpiece.
When I grow up I would like to have a similar sound!!! _________________ Notice!!! Amateur musician without formal studies

Donat's site says Touvron = Monette B6S1
It seems to me that the closest to the Monette B6S1 is the Donat 168D.
Can anyone make a comparison between Donat and Bach and Monette?
The 169C is a bit deeper than the Bach 3C, but the diameter feels narrower.
I recently ordered 169C, 170C, 171C and 171CP for testing. It's great that they offer this option. If you're thinking about getting a Donat, you should definitely try it.
To me, the 171C felt the closest to the Gewa 3C I'm used to in terms of inner diameter. They were all nice mouthpieces, but, personally, I found them harder to play in the upper register.
Eventually, I ended up getting Bob Reeves 43C, and I love it! It offers me everything the 3C did, but it feels much more comfortable.
